"SmartDeck is the most intuitive full cockpit system in the industry. Its robust performance combined with an easy-to-use interface makes it the perfect match for Cirrus Design's 'the-jet.'"

Cirrus and L-3 share a vision of making flying safer, easier and more attractive to pilots as well as potential pilots. L-3 Avionics has supplied Cirrus Design with safety equipment such as the Stormscope® lightning detection system and the SkyWatch® collision avoidance system as factory options for the Cirrus SR20 & SR22 since 1999.

"Cirrus has always maintained that easy-to-use, intuitive avionics are key to increased air safety and necessary to grow the market. That is why Cirrus ledthe industry in glass panel development and continues to develop our Pilot Vehicle Interface (PVI) philosophy in partnership with avionics suppliers," said Cirrus Co-Founder and CEO Alan Klapmeier. "L-3 has embraced this philosophy - that is why we chose SmartDeck for this development phase of our personal jet. While it is technologically advanced, it is remarkably powerful, yet easy to use."

"'the-jet' is designed to be owner flown and it will be loaded with innovative features, such as SmartDeck, that are designed to reduce pilot workload and help manage information essential to safe, high utility travel."

L-3's expertise in strapdown attitude determination, along with L-3's leading situational awareness technologies and innovative capabilities such as the SkyWatch® collision avoidance system, LandMark(TM) terrain awareness warning system (TAWS), Stormscope® lightning detection system and IRIS(TM) Infrared Imaging System, combined with the new S-TEC IntelliFlight(TM) 1950 integrated Digital Flight Control System (DFCS), make SmartDeck a standout system that packages all of the avionics a pilot desires into one integrated system.
