S.L. Airport purchases 352-acre adjacent site
Salt Lake City Department of Airports has executed a contract to purchase 352.47 acres just west of the Salt Lake City International Airport. The sales price was not disclosed.
The seller of the property, Skypark International LC and Mountain Enterprises LLC, is a family-owned real estate company from Sanpete County. The company is owned by Wendell, Gene and Evan Jacobson, three brothers from the community of Fountain Green.
The Jacobsons own and manage more than 8,000 apartment units in 12 states.
The Jacobsons purchased the property near the airport more than 10 years ago from Frank and Nadine Gillmore and had been in discussions about selling the property with several potential buyers, including The Rockefeller Group, a California developer, and a Baltimore-based real estate company.
Negotiations between the owners and the Department of Airports have been ongoing over the past several months. The additional land increases the airport's buffer from encroaching development.
