Two people escaped without injury after their small plane took a nose dive while taking off at Centennial Airport Wednesday afternoon.

The plane was 8 to 10 feet off the ground when the wind caught it, said Arapahoe County Sheriff Grayson Robinson.

The airport had a gust of 40 mph wind, with sustained winds at 25-30 mph, according to 7NEWS meteorologists.

The blue and white single-engine aircraft remains on runway 1-7 Left. Its landing gear appeared crumpled.

Centennial Airport is one of the busiest general aviation airports in the country.
