Clearfield And Jefferson County Team Up To Stabilize Airport

Aug. 13, 2009

WASHINGTON TOWNSHIP, Pa. --

Clearfield and Jefferson County are coming together to stabilize the DuBois Regional Airport.

The airport, which is located in Jefferson County, has been hit hard by recession.

Clearfield County officials said the airport dealt with the loss of its commuter carrier last year and high gas prices.

"The airport was deeply affected when the economy declined last year," said Clearfield County Commissioner John Sobel.

Sobel said both counties are working with a law firm to assist the airport.

He added that the airport should come back stronger than ever.

Officials said the Continental Airlines service to Cleveland International Airport remains very popular.
