Pace Airlines Says Eviction Deadline Extended

Oct. 1, 2009

WINSTON-SALEM --

Pace Airlines has been able to buy some time after Smith Reynolds Airport asked the embattled company to vacate.

Smith Reynolds sent the company a notice on Monday asking that it vacate by Wednesday at 5 p.m.

Airline spokesman Stuart Carnie said company attorneys have been in contact with Smith Reynolds and won't be required to immediately leave.

CEO William Rodgers was arrested last week on charges that he failed to notify employees that the company was canceling its group health insurance policy.

Rodgers was arrested at Piedmont Triad International Airport and later released after posting a $50,000 bond.

Pace employees said they haven't been paid since mid-August.
