Nov. 05--Butler National Corp. has acquired Kings Avionics Inc., which will expand its aviation capabilities.

Butler National, headquartered in Olathe, said Kings Avionics had annual sales of $2.1 million and an order backlog of about $1 million. Kings is based at New Century AirCenter near Gardner.

Butler's aerospace division makes support systems for older commercial and military aircraft. Kings Avionics repairs and overhauls components for nearly every major avionics manufacturer.

Clark D. Stewart, Butler's president and CEO, said Butler and its subsidiary Avcon have worked with the firm in the past.

"The acquisition of Kings Avionics provides Butler with a greater presence in the maintenance, repair and overhaul market to better support our mission and classic aviation customers," he said. "Butler has been growing this strategically important business segment."

In addition to its aerospace business, Butler National also provides management services for the gaming industry.
