Our seventh monthly record in 2010

GREEN, Ohio, Nov. 15, 2010 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Seven is our lucky number! The Akron-Canton Airport (CAK) hit the jackpot in October recording our seventh monthly passenger record of the year. We are simply delighted that more and more travelers in Northeastern Ohio are choosing to fly CAK. In October more than 133,000 passengers traveled to and from Akron-Canton, making it the airport's busiest October of all time. That figure was up seven percent compared to 2009 and beat the airport's previous best October (2007) by more than 3,000 passengers. For the first ten months of the year, nearly 1,310,000 passengers traveled to and from CAK, an eight percent increase compared to 2009.

"We feel lucky and proud that so many customers are using CAK, many for the first time," said Rick McQueen, president and CEO. "As we close in on our all-time passenger record during this month of Thanksgiving, I can't help but feel blessed by the response of our many new and longtime customers."

Nearly every carrier at CAK experienced an increase in October. AirTran Airways was up a whopping 12 percent compared to the same month last year. Plus, new flights to Milwaukee that AirTran Airways offers in partnership with SkyWest Airlines added another 4,000 passengers. US Airways, which added an additional trip to Charlotte, was up 36 percent. United Express and Frontier Airlines were up 11 and one percent respectively.
