Norton Sound Seafood House Opens at Anchorage International Airport

Nov. 17, 2010

BETHESDA, Md.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Alaska's Norton Sound Economic Development Corporation (NSEDC) and HMSHost Corporation, the creator of engaging travel dining and shopping experiences, today celebrated the opening of the Norton Sound Seafood House at Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport (ANC).

Norton Sound Seafood House is a one-of-kind, locally-themed seafood restaurant that showcases the fisheries, resources and the small-boat fishermen of Northwest Alaska. HMSHost partnered with NSEDC, a local, non-profit corporation, to develop this exceptional new dining option for ANC. NSEDC's goals are to support local fisheries and provide economic development through education, employment, training and financial assistance to its 15 member communities.

"We are very pleased to offer visitors the local flavor they look forward to enjoying when they visit our great state," said John Parrott, Airport Manager, Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport. "Norton Sound Seafood House is an outstanding new addition to our food and beverage program."

Locally-caught seafood is the star of Norton Sound Seafood House's menu with items created by well-known television personality Chef Al Levinsohn. Selections include Chef Al's Alaskan Crab Po Boy, Original Ale battered Halibut Po Boy, Original Ale battered Halibut and King Crab Cake Dinner. The new restaurant provides travelers a cozy, modern atmosphere with a full bar featuring locally-brewed beer, fine wines, and cocktails.

"NSEDC is excited to have the opportunity to partner the world-class crab, halibut, and salmon of the Norton Sound region with the extensive experience and knowledge of HMSHost," says Janis Ivanoff, NSEDC's Chief Executive Officer. "The Norton Sound Seafood House offers our state's visitors and residents alike the quality seafood that Alaska and the Norton Sound are so well-known for."

Located on Concourse C, the 4,125 square foot restaurant is designed to serve travelers both pre and post security. A unique feature in travel dining, Norton Sound Seafood House provides seating for 122 in the post-security main dining area, and seating for 14 in the pre-security grab-n-go section.

In addition to the new Norton Sound Seafood House, HMSHost's current ANC restaurant options include Humpy's Great Alaskan Alehouse, a popular Anchorage pub that opened on Concourse B this summer, Starbucks Coffee, Chili's Too, Quiznos, Legends, Café Del Mundo and Upper One Lounge.

"HMSHost really enjoys making the traveler's day better at Anchorage International Airport with this flavorful variety of popular restaurants and pubs. We also could not be more pleased to support the local community in partnership with Norton Sound Economic Development Corporation," said Stephen Douglas, Vice President, Business Development, HMSHost.
