Porter Airlines confirms two Bombardier Q400 aircraft options

March 31, 2011

The order is valued at approximately $61 million US.  Porter now has four outstanding options for Q400 NextGen aircraft.

"Porter's fleet development continues moving forward with this confirmed order," said Robert Deluce, president and CEO of Porter Airlines. "The Q400 aircraft is ideal for our regional operation and we're looking forward to putting these particular planes into service."

"In just four and a half years, Porter Airlines has become Canada's third-largest scheduled airline with a combination of the right aircraft and a devotion to passenger care and comfort," said Gary R. Scott, President, Bombardier Commercial Aircraft. "We are very proud that Bombardier's Q400 and Q400 NextGen aircraft have played a pivotal role in Porter's success story."

Porter operates a 70-seat version of the Q400 aircraft, one of the most fuel-efficient aircraft in its class, burning less fuel per seat than most regional and narrow-body jets.  With leather seating, extended legroom and a 667 km/h cruising speed, the Q400 aircraft sets new standards for comfort, fuel efficiency and low emissions.
