Boeing Could Announce 737 Replacement At Paris Air Show

Jan. 28, 2011

SEATTLE --

An aviation industry analyst said Boeing may be preparing to announce a new plane that could replace the 737.

An analyst at Morgan Stanley said she believes Boeing could announce a new narrow-body jet before the Paris Air Show in June.

Boeing has been debating whether to put new engines on its current 737 model or whether to design a whole new plane.

"We believe BA could announce a new narrowbody by Paris Air show; re-engining makes less sense, in our view. Crucially, management discussed a new plane by 2019+ however we believe these sizable Airbus’ new orders changes the game & could cause BA to accelerate plans," the report said.
