Pratt & Whitney Canada Congratulates Blackhawk on FAA Certification for Installation of the PT6A-42A in the Cessna Caravan

July 29, 2011

Pratt & Whitney Canada (P&WC) has congratulated Blackhawk Modification on earning FAA Certification for an engine upgrade package for their Cessna Caravan aircraft.

The conversion, which includes a replacement of the P&WC PT6A-114A engine (675 SHP) with a factory-new PT6A-42A engine (850 SHP), will increase the capabilities of the Caravan for those operators who can benefit from the additional power. P&WC is a United Technologies company.

"This adds to the remarkable narrative that is the PT6A story," said Michael Perodeau, VP, Corporate Aviation and Military Programs. "It demonstrates how the PT6 engine continues to be the engine of choice in a wide variety of applications due to its efficiency, reliability and low cost of operation and maintenance. PT6 engines fly on more than 130 applications for business, consumer, utility and trainer aircraft and helicopters, and have logged more than 350 million hours of flight time."

There are currently more than 47,000 engines in service on over 25,000 aircraft operated by some 10,000 operators in 198 countries.
