PORTSMOUTH - Air service from the Pease International Tradeport airport to Bedford, Mass., and Trenton, N.J., is scheduled to begin next month.

Pease Executive Director David R. Mullen said Thursday that Streamline LLC could begin offering two flights each day, five days a week starting Sept. 6.

"Any step in the right direction is good news," Mullen said.

Mullen said the air carrier is also considering weekend flights, as well as flights to Atlantic City, N.J.

Mullen said the airline will charge about $199 for each one-way flight, depending on when a flight is booked, on the 30-passenger Embraer Brasilia 120 twin-engine turbo-propeller planes featuring leather seats.

"It's a very nice plane," he said.

Mullen said he believes the price is mitigated by such perks as free parking and shorter waits at the airport. Instead of having to arrive at the airport an hour or two ahead of your flight and deal with large crowds and long lines at security, a traveler can arrive at Pease, go through security and be on a plane within minutes, he said.

"It's fairly painless to fly out of Pease," he said. "This is very simplified, so hopefully very enjoyable as a result."

Streamline is a subsidiary of Charter Air Transport, which is headquartered in Cleveland, according to Charter's website.
