Delta Eliminates Service To Boston
Delta Air Lines is eliminating service between Boston and Pittsburgh, effective Nov. 1, an airline spokesman said.
"Unfortunately, this route wasn't performing particularly well, which is why it was affected," Delta spokesman Trebor Banstetter wrote in an e-mail. "The revenue we collected on the flight wasn't enough to cover the operating costs."
The route cut is part of Delta's plan to trim capacity by 4 to 5 percent systemwide to offset rising fuel costs, Banstetter said.
Delta started the service in April, offering three daily round-trip flights. The route will continue to be served by US Airways, which has five daily flights to Boston, and JetBlue Airways, which offers three daily flights.
