Jetliner slides off Ottawa runway
A United Express jetliner inbound from Chicago slid and overran a runway while landing in heavy rain Sunday at the airport in Ottawa, Ontario, authorities said.
Airport police spokesman Paul Benoit said no injuries were reported among the 44 people aboard United Express Flight 3363, The Ottawa Citizen said.
A bus was used to bring the passengers inside the airport terminal but they had to leave their possessions behind on the plane while firefighters dealt with a fuel leak at the crash site, the newspaper said.
Witnesses said the aircraft swung around 180 degrees and came to rest off the runway at the Canadian capital's airport.
Authorities were investigating the incident.
