Over $950,000 for Sioux County Regional Airport

Sept. 12, 2011

WASHINGTON D.C. - Senator Tom Harkin (D-IA) today announced that $959,023.00 has been granted to the Sioux County Regional Airport Agency in Orange City. The airport received the funds to purchase land to construct a new airport. This funding comes from the U.S. Department of Transportation's (DOT) Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). Harkin is a member of the Appropriations subcommittee that funds the DOT.

"Purchasing land for the new airport in Sioux County is the first step to bringing needed jobs to the area," said Harkin. "The funding will allow Orange City to begin work on the airport and will expand air travel and economic development in Western Iowa."
