Southwest Airlines reports combined decrease in load factor for August 2011

Revenue passenger miles increased by 3.9% in August 2011 and available seat miles rose by 4.2% compared to August of last year.

This led to a small drop in load factor to 82.6% in August 2011, a drop of 0.2 percentage points compared to 82.8% in the same month of 2010.

For purposes of comparability combined traffic results for the two carriers are provided for periods before the date of acquisition.
