WASHINGTON, D.C. - The Port Columbus International Airport will undergo renovations because of new federal resources. U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown (D-OH) today announced that the resources were awarded to decrease noise pollution coming from the airport. The U.S. Department of Transportation funds were awarded by the Federal Aviation Administration and are expected to decrease noise pollution affecting nearly 70 homes and more than 170 residents.

"Ohio businesses and visitors depend on safe and efficient operations at Port Columbus and Ohio residents rely on strong, livable communities," Brown said. "This funding is critical to ensuring that one of Ohio's great economic generators doesn't prevent families from creating solid communities that people are proud to call home."

The airport will receive $2,967,547 to make these improvements.

The Port Columbus International Airport, located in Franklin County, maintains more than 12,700 jobs and generated $1.6 billion in annual economic activity last year.
