13 September 2011 - British air carrier Virgin Atlantic is still interested in a merger with domestic sector player BMI, which could be offered for sale by its Germanowner Lufthansa (ETR:LHA), Reuters reported on Tuesday, quoting a statementof Virgin.
Lufthansa has hired investment banks to explore a potential sale of BMI, according to Reutersâ sources on Sunday, after having already announced plans to seek a partner for the troubled British airline.
International Airlines Group (LON:IAG), the entity resulted from the combination of British Airways and Spanish Iberia, also said on Monday it was still considering an offer to buy BMI, as it was interested in its slots at the Heathrow airport in London.
