Three Transportation Security Administration officers, a Florida state trooper and a New York police officer were charged Tuesday with accepting bribes in exchange for allowing drug dealers to pass through airport security with tens of thousands of prescription narcotic painkillers.

A man arrested in April told Drug Enforcement Administration agents he gave cash and gift cards to two TSA officers at Palm Beach International Airport and one TSA officer at Westchester, N.Y., County Airport to allow him to pass through airport security carrying oxycodone pills and cash, DEA Special Agent Steven Derr said.

The man said he made more than 65 trips to Florida to purchase thousands of pills that he would resell, court papers said. The five face up to 20 years in prison if convicted.
