Mototok Takes Off For Aer Lingus at Heathrow Airport

July 15, 2019

The Menzies team at London Heathrow Airport (LHR) completed their first live Mototok pushback on July 8, at Terminal 2 for Aer Lingus.

This is the first use of the new remote-controlled pushback device at LHR, outside of British Airways' Terminal 5. After a year of preparation and planning, the team has now operated more than 20 pushbacks since the first just 3 days ago.

Alan Hoskins, Training Manager, said: "This is another step forward in our ambition to be both the LHR handler of choice, and a handler at the forefront of technology and innovation. It's also more environmentally responsible than traditional pushback methods, adding an extra layer of progress to an already forward-thinking approach."
