BYD is showcasing its electric tractor models at the 2018 International Airport GSE Expo, marking the first time the units have been shared with the North American market.
The tractors are powered by BYD's proprietary iron-phosphate battery technology, which company officials say withstands harsh working environments without the risk of fire or explosion, even when exposed to extreme conditions.
The electric tractors are equipped with a portable fast charger connected directly to the vehicle, allowing the vehicles to charge from 10 percent to 100 percent in approximately two hours. The vehicles, which offer a capacity of 25 metric tons, have a run-time of 16 hours. That range can be increased with opportunity charging.
