Textron Ground Support Equipment Inc., a Textron Inc. company, announces the launch of the Safeaero 220E, an all-electric option for the industry-leading Safeaero 220 model, premiering at the GSE Expo in Lisbon, Portugal in September.
"The development of the Safeaero 220E is the latest example of Textron GSE's commitment to electrification, sustainability and customer requirements," said Morgan Gresens, vice president and general manager, GSE for Textron Specialized Vehicles Inc. "We invested significantly and are showing our commitment to provide our customers with electrified, zero-emission GSE solutions that don't compromise the safety, operational efficiency and performance on the tarmac for which Textron GSE is known."
The Safeaero 220 platform is the only genuine single-operator deicer in the industry. Its unique design enables a single operator to drive, maneuver and spray from the cab, providing airlines, air-freight carriers and ground handlers with increased productivity, lower operating costs and increased operational efficiency. The Safeaero 220 can service a wide range of aircraft, from commuter planes to large jetliners.
The Safeaero 220 also features a state-of-the-art spraying and blending system to reduce fluid consumption, eliminating waste and lowering environmental impacts. And the 220's wireless data transfer and remote diagnostics tools allow operators to quickly and easily track the unit's performance.
Textron GSE partnered with Equipmake to bring this deicer to the market. Equipmake specializes in the development and production of electrified products across the automotive, aerospace, bus, coach and marine industries. It delivers an electric drivetrain to enable the next-generation, electrified Safeaero 220E to provide quiet, emission-free operations while maintaining the efficient single-person operation for which the Safeaero 220 platform is renowned.
"Textron GSE's selection of Equipmake to assist in the electrification of the Safeaero 220 deicer is a considerable endorsement of both our products and technology, and our ability to apply them in new, important industry sectors," said Ian Foley, CEO of Equipmake. "We are proud to support Textron GSE as it transitions its product range to zero emissions to meet its sustainability goals."
Textron GSE is exhibiting at the GSE Expo Europe in Lisbon Portugal, Sept. 17-19, in booth EX37.
