Airlines Face Fine for Dumping

The order comes two years after NGT issued directions to the aviation regulator on the matter.

Dumping excreta from a flying airplane will now attract a fine of Rs 50,000 for airlines. The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has directed all airline operators plying within India and those operating to and from India to abide by the order. The directive was passed in compliance with an order of the National Green tribunal (NGT).

The order comes two years after NGT issued directions to the aviation regulator on the matter. 

DGCA has, however, filed a review petition with the NGT saying it is impossible for flying aircraft to dump excreta.
