Gazprom Neft Strengthens its Position in the International Aviation Fuel Supply Market

Jan. 21, 2020

Gazpromneft-Aero, the aviation fuel operator of Gazprom Neft, expanded its refueling network to 282 airports (+13) in 67 countries in 2019. The total volume of overseas refueling increased by 26% YoY and amounted to more than 310 thousand tons.

The strong sales were driven by Gazpromneft-Aero’s active development in China. The volume of jet fuel sales in China's airports grew by 2.5 times and reached over 78 thousand tons. To date, China hosts the largest Gazpromneft-Aero refueling station network with 33 airports in the country. The sales growth over the past year has also been achieved thanks to the significant increase in the volume of refueling of Russian and international airlines in Serbia, Montenegro, Spain, Thailand, India, Vietnam, South Korea and Malaysia.

Gazpromneft-Aero's clients portfolio consists of over 190 airlines, including leading players in the Russian aviation market such as Aeroflot, S7 Airlines, Ural Airlines, Volga-Dnepr, as well as leading foreign carriers, such as Lufthansa, Emirates, Air France, KLM.

“Within ten years of the company’s first international “into the wing” refueling we have sold over 2 million tons of jet fuel at overseas airports. The growth in sales abroad is primarily driven by the development of our cooperation with airlines and aviation fuel suppliers in local markets. In accordance with Gazprom Neft's long-term business development strategy until 2030, we will continue to expand our network at the most popular airports in the world, and we plan to introduce a flexible system of mutual settlements in national currencies, for the benefit of our partners. Thanks to our strong foothold in the global market, we expect to increase the volume of international sales to 1 million tons per year, which will allow Gazpromneft-Aero to become one of the ten largest aviation fuel operators in the world,” said Vladimir Yegorov, CEO of Gazpromneft-Aero.
