David Allen Certified Launches Innovative Cleaning Solution for Protecting Aircraft, Passengers and Crew Against the Coronavirus

March 16, 2020

David Allen, founder of The Allen Groupe and David Allen Certified launches awareness campaign on protecting your aircraft and passengers amidst the rising concerns with the Coronavirus. With nearly three decades of commercial and general aviation industry aircraft cleaning experience, he has been on the forefront of cleaning process innovations with a specialty in responding to health and wellness concerns.

In 2009, the aviation industry was dealing with Influenza A virus subtype H1N1. NetJets, the worldwide leader in private aviation, proactively partnered with David Allen’s organization to set up a centralized location on the southern US border for all of their aircraft re-entering the US from Mexico to go through a thorough decontamination cleaning process.

Fast forward to 2020, David Allen Certified™ is leading the industry once again with the creation of a process using the most cutting-edge process and product technology to introduce a specialty cleaning process to not only clean and disinfect airplanes, but to prevent the spread of infectious diseases including the COVID 19. Normal aircraft cleaning services only provide protection until the next human contact. This specialty cleaning process and product solution provides aircraft cabin protection against the spread of the Coronavirus for a minimum of a week and in some areas of the aircraft for up to one month. Repeat cleaning of the cabin will NOT remove this product, as abrasion is the only method of removal.

What is COVID19?

COVID19 is a novel beta coronavirus. Other members of the virus family include the virus responsible for SARS and MERS. COVID19 is thought to be milder than these other viruses, however, it is quite early in the course of an epidemiologic investigation.

What symptoms does COVID19 cause?

COVID19 infection can cause a mild to moderate upper respiratory tract infection. Typical symptoms include runny nose, cough, sore throat, headache, and fever.

How severe is COVID19 infection?

Depending on health factors, the mortality rate associated with COVID19 infection is thought to be lower than that seen in SARS. The mortality rate in China is estimated to be 2% and 3.4%, but the exact number has proven to be difficult to define.

Who is at risk of severe infection?

For those with a weakened immune system (such as those with uncontrolled diabetes, the elderly, or neonates), there is a higher risk the COVID19 infection can cause a more severe lower respiratory tract infection which can lead to respiratory insufficiency and hospitalization. Almost all of the severe cases and deaths are in people who are elderly or infirm.

How does COVID19 spread?

Human-to-human transmission has been confirmed for COVID19. Experts believe it is transmitted via respiratory droplets (water-born). This means that a cough or sneeze can spread the virus if those droplets spread to another person’s mouth, for example. Another commonly understood mechanism is the presence of respiratory droplets on hands. Thus, the virus can be transmitted by shaking hands with an infected person and then touching your mouth, nose, or eyes. Because SARS was able to spread through feces, some clinicians suggest caution against the same mechanism of transmission. This is another factor that too soon to say for sure.

Should you be worried about COVID19 infection in the United States?

Depending on where you live and your general habits in regard to cleanliness, COVID19 infection may be a concern. So far there have been confirmed cases of coronavirus in the US from the human-to-human spread and both cases occurred in close contacts. By “close contacts”, we refer to a distance for transmission of 3-6 feet. Dr. Nancy Messonnier, the head of the National Center for Immunization and Respiratory Diseases at the CDC suggests that coronavirus infection in America is inevitable. The major question is how much it will spread and how many people will develop a severe form of illness.

How long does the COVID 19 last?

How long the virus that causes COVID-19 survives on surfaces isn’t known, but studies suggest that it could live for a few hours to up to several days, according to the World Health Organization.

How can you protect against coronavirus?

The simplest preventative measure is proper hand-washing! Multiple regulatory bodies recommend scrubbing for at least 20 seconds before rinsing. There are three (3) main concerns when protecting yourself and others against COVID are:

  • Safety
  • Efficacy
  • Durability
  1. Number one source of contamination is touch. Anything you can do to minimize contamination by touch is a must.
  2. Choose a product that is alcohol free for flammability and safety. In addition, alcohol dries out your hands and makes you more susceptible to contamination.
  3. Choose a product that has a long-lasting protective layer. David Allen Certified has selected specialized products with proven durability that have been approved by multiple governments including the FDA.

David Allen Certified has created a process to clean and disinfect airplanes to prevent the spread of infectious diseases including the COVID 19. This solution provides protection for a minimum of a week and in some cases up to one month. Repeat cleaning of the cabin will NOT remove this product as abrasion is the only method of removal.
