Swissport Sells Copenhagen Cargo Operation To WFS

WFS is a major player in cargo handling, with 3.5 million tonnes of cargo handled yearly.

Swissport, the world’s leading provider of ground and cargo handling services to the aviation industry, and WFS (Worldwide Flight Services), ground and cargo handling provider at over 120 stations worldwide, signed a binding agreement regarding the divestment of Swissport ´s cargo business at Copenhagen Airport to WFS on Aug. 26. The date of transfer of all business activities to WFS is set to be Oct. 1.

WFS is a major player in cargo handling, with 3.5 million tonnes of cargo handled yearly and therefore perfectly equipped to take over the cargo business at Copenhagen Airport. The sale of the Copenhagen cargo business to WFS includes all business activities currently carried out by Swissport Cargo Services Denmark ApS as well as all assets. Most of the employees will move to WFS Denmark A/S accordingly. The cargo warehouse at Copenhagen will be operated by WFS Denmark A/S through a sub-lease contract.

The exit process will start immediately now after the agreement has been signed and will be concluded 1st October 2014. The union representatives have been informed on the transfer prior to the decision to transfer the business to WFS.
