Approximately 300 baggage handlers working at Suvarnabhumi International Airport went on strike Monday, seeking bonus payment and improved benefits.

The workers on strike are employees of ASM Security Management Company. ASM representatives held discussions to review the workers' demands.

According to a report from the Pattaya Mail, management agreed to adjust the basic monthly pay of the workers and referred to rest of the demands to the board for consideration. The management also asked the striking workers to resume working, which was rejected outright.

The Suvarnabhumi airport authority enlisted security officials at the airport and as well as security officials at Don Meuang airport to take over baggage handling responsibilities, according to the report. Another 40 luggage inspectors from Phuket airport were also sent to Suvarnabhumi international airport to replace the strikers on a temporary basis.
