Hong Kong, Sept. 17, 2019 -- Hong Kong Air Cargo Terminals Limited (Hactl) – Hong Kong’s major independent cargo handler – has once again scooped an award, at this year’s Supply Chain Asia Awards.

The “Supply Chain Innovation of the Year (Smart Logistics)” award was given in recognition of Hactl’s recently-introduced Smart Cargo Locating project, as decided by a panel of expert judges, who carefully considered all aspects of the shortlisted candidate projects.

Smart Cargo Locating is a Hactl-developed technological solution to the common problem of quickly and accurately locating loose cargo in major transit sheds. Combining 2D AR barcode labels, a unique self-developed indoor GPS system, cameras and Wi-Fi, Smart Cargo Locating instructs the forklift driver where to rack outsize loose cargo in the warehouse. Subsequent identification and retrieval are made easier and faster, with the aid of stored position information and photographic images transmitted to the forklift driver’s hand-held device.

The award was presented to Hactl Senior Manager - Performance Enhancement, Eric Poon by Koh Jin Kiat, Director, Business Growth, Bombardier Recreational Products (BRP), at a gala dinner and awards event held at the Resorts World Sentosa in Singapore.

Says Hactl Chief Executive Wilson Kwong: “Hactl is deeply honored to receive one of these prestigious awards. I thank the judges for recognizing our latest efforts to drive inefficiency from the supply chain, and Supply Chain Asia for continuing to stage this competition which has repeatedly proven its value in nurturing best practice, professionalism and innovation in logistics.

Above all, I would like to dedicate the award to my wonderful team whose loyalty, hard work and constant quest for better ways of working continue to win us public recognition.”
