Vestergaard is introducing OPTIM-ICE, an operator-assist system designed to improve the safety, consistency and efficiency of aircraft deicing operations. The first release supports narrow-body aircraft wings and stabilizers, with additional automation capabilities planned in future software updates.

Using LiDAR sensors, OPTIM-ICE quickly scans the aircraft and automatically identifies the appropriate surfaces before generating optimized spray patterns. The system then assists the operator by guiding nozzle movements across the wing and stabilizer, helping deliver more consistent fluid application while reducing operator workload.

Built-in proximity protection prevents the nozzle or boom from contacting the aircraft by automatically slowing and stopping movement at a predetermined distance. Operators remain in full control of the deicing process, but the software provides guidance that can simplify training while promoting more repeatable results.

By combining operator expertise with intelligent automation, OPTIM-ICE represents another step toward safer, more efficient winter operations on the ramp.
