Mallaghan Expands STEM Partnership With Local Primary School
Mallaghan has launched the third year of its engineering partnership with St John’s Primary School in Kingsisland, introducing students to careers in manufacturing and ground support equipment through hands-on learning and factory engagement.
As part of the initiative, the school’s P5 class visited Mallaghan’s headquarters in Dungannon for a guided factory tour and product demonstrations, offering insight into engineering processes from design and manufacturing to testing and quality control.
“At Mallaghan, we are committed to having a positive impact on our local community through nurturing education, and it was wonderful to welcome pupils from St John’s Primary School and engage with so many talented young students,” said Larissa Campbell, production coordinator at Mallaghan. “We recognize the importance of supporting the next generation of manufacturing and engineering leaders for the future of our industry.”
The partnership will continue with a series of workshops, where students will plan, design, and build a Mallaghan GSE product while developing creativity, problem-solving skills and confidence.
“This factory tour has been a highlight for our class, giving them a real-life insight into engineering, from design and manufacturing to testing and quality control,” said Willie Lyons, P5 teacher at St John’s Primary School.
Mallaghan supplies ground support equipment to aviation customers in more than 100 countries, including airlines, caterers, and ground handling providers worldwide.
