Menzies Aviation has secured a new ground handling contract with JetSMART covering 11 airports in Colombia, more than doubling the ground services provider’s network in the country.

Under the multi-airport agreement, Menzies will provide a full range of ground handling services and support more than 43,000 aircraft turns annually.

Operations began in September at four Colombian airports where Menzies already had a presence: Barranquilla, Bogotá, Cali and Medellín. The contract also expands the company’s network to seven additional airports: Bucaramanga, Cartagena, Cúcuta, Montería, Pereira, San Andrés and Santa Marta.

The agreement marks the start of Menzies’ partnership with JetSMART in Colombia while extending an existing relationship between the companies in Chile, where Menzies supports the airline in 10 cities.

Menzies said the Colombian operation will be supported by trained personnel and modern ground support equipment, including lower-emission assets.

JetSMART has been expanding its domestic network in Colombia, and the agreement gives the airline a single ground handling partner across the 11 locations.
