IAG Cargo Expands Pharma Network With Kuala Lumpur Cold Chain Station
IAG Cargo has added Kuala Lumpur International Airport to its Constant Climate network, expanding its temperature-controlled pharmaceutical handling capabilities in the Asia-Pacific region.
The new station brings IAG Cargo’s Constant Climate network to around 100 approved locations worldwide, including 13 in the Asia-Pacific region. Kuala Lumpur is connected to the carrier’s London Heathrow hub by daily service.
Constant Climate is IAG Cargo’s cold chain product for pharmaceuticals and other time- and temperature-sensitive shipments, including vaccines, biotech products and diagnostic samples. The GDP-certified Kuala Lumpur facility can handle both active and passive temperature-controlled shipments.
Customers shipping urgent temperature-sensitive cargo can also use IAG Cargo’s Critical service, which provides priority handling and enhanced shipment monitoring.
“Adding Kuala Lumpur to our Constant Climate network further enhances IAG Cargo’s presence in Southeast Asia, strengthening both our origin and destination capabilities for pharmaceutical and healthcare shipments,” said Jordan Kohlbeck, head of pharmaceutical at IAG Cargo. “It expands our regional coverage and offers customers greater flexibility when moving temperature-sensitive goods across the globe.”
The expansion also builds on IAG Cargo’s pharmaceutical operations at London Heathrow, where its New Premia facility provides temperature-controlled handling. IAG Cargo also provides third-party handling services for MASkargo at Heathrow, allowing pharmaceutical shipments arriving from Kuala Lumpur to connect with other destinations in the Constant Climate network.
According to Kohlbeck, the daily Kuala Lumpur-London schedule has been optimized to support pharmaceutical shipments, with an early-morning arrival at Heathrow allowing same-day connections to several Constant Climate stations.
The Kuala Lumpur addition follows the launch of the Global Cargo Joint Business between IAG Cargo, Qatar Airways Cargo and MASkargo, which is designed to expand connectivity across the carriers’ combined cargo networks.
