Lufthansa Cargo and Swiss WorldCargo Strengthen Collaboration to Expand Customer Value
Lufthansa Cargo and Swiss WorldCargo, the freight divisions of the Lufthansa Group, have announced a new strategic cooperation designed to deepen commercial and operational alignment while preserving each brand’s identity.
The initiative aims to enhance customer value and position both carriers to navigate ongoing changes in global trade and the airfreight sector.
In the coming months, the companies will integrate select commercial and operational activities, presenting “one face to the customer” through a unified market approach. The cooperation includes harmonized services, aligned shipment flows and operational processes, and the use of a common IT platform. According to both carriers, the combined effort will unlock efficiencies and generate added value across the Lufthansa Group’s cargo network.
Swiss WorldCargo specializes in high-value, care-intensive and time-critical shipments, offering personalized services through its global belly network of more than 130 destinations. Lufthansa Cargo brings extensive freighter and belly capacity, broad global coverage, and a strong leadership position in digitalization and innovative cargo solutions. Maintaining both brands while combining these complementary strengths will create a more comprehensive product and service portfolio for customers worldwide.
“We are building on the complementary strengths of Lufthansa Cargo and Swiss WorldCargo - two brands with distinct identities, shared values, and a continuous commitment to quality and care,” said Alain Chisari, Head of Swiss WorldCargo. “By combining our capabilities, expertise, and market presence, we will create new, industry-leading synergies and provide greater value to our customers.”
Ashwin Bhat, CEO of Lufthansa Cargo, added: “Thanks to a deeper cooperation, customers will have access to one of the broadest networks in the industry along with a wide product portfolio and decades of expertise. By aligning our organizations more closely, we can offer more tailored solutions while further advancing the Lufthansa Group’s purpose of connecting people, cultures and economies in a sustainable way.”
