U.S. Bans Indian Airlines from Self-Handling
According to multiple reports, Indian airlines have been barred from performing their own ground handling on flights in the United States.
The Hindu reports that Air India can no longer carry out ground handling operations on its own aircraft at the five American airports served by the airline. However, the report states Air India doesn't believe operations will be affected by the decision.
According to the Times of India, Air India is the only Indian carrier currently flying to the U.S. - with flights to JFK in New York, Newark, San Francisco, Washington and Chicago.
The Times of India reports the United States' decision is believed to be in response to India not allowing American-based passenger and cargo airlines to self-handle at Indian airports.
