Ryanair's Passenger Traffic Surges in December
London — Ryanair, Europe's largest low-cost airline, said that traffic for the month of December surged to 9.5 million passengers from last year's 1.9 million.
The Dublin-based airline group's load factor was 81 per cent compared to 73 per cent a year ago.
Ryanair operated more than 62,200 flights last month, a typically busy time thanks to year-end holidays.
In the preceding month of November traffic was 10.2 million passengers, with 86 per cent load factor.
More broadly, airlines are still struggling to cope with the reduction in customers due to travel restrictions and coronavirus fears, with Omicron now wreaking new havoc on the industry.
