Airlines at Logan and Bradley Continue to Cancel, Delay Flights as Holiday Travel Is Disrupted by COVID, Omicron Variant
As travelers continue flying back from their holiday plans, airports in New England are still reporting delays Monday.
Boston Logan International Airport reported 32 delays and 33 cancelations as of 7:15 a.m. on Monday.
Flight changes are significantly down from Sunday though, as 206 flights were delayed out of Boston and 54 were canceled amid world-wide travel disruptions from the COVID-19 omicron variant. Around the world, more than 2,600 flights were canceled on major airlines on Sunday, with at least 6,000 cancellations and tens of thousands of delays throughout all of Christmas weekend.
At Logan on Monday, JetBlue is seeing the most difficulty, with 18 flights canceled and 21 delayed, according to FlightAware. No flights have been canceled or delayed for Tuesday so far.
Logan is also warning those traveling about its ongoing construction.
“If traveling this holiday season please be advised there will be ongoing construction at Boston Logan. Arrive early, be aware of surroundings and follow signage,” Logan tweeted on Sunday. There is ongoing roadway construction between the Terminal B exit and Terminal C entrance, the airport reported on it’s “Happening Now” page, asking people to anticipate detours and follow signs.
