Feb. 11—A Boeing 717 with 77 people on board went off a taxiway before takeoff at Pittsburgh International Airport on Wednesday evening, according to a statement from airport officials.

No injuries were reported. The Delta Air Lines flight 2231 was about to depart for Atlanta when the incident happened near runway 10R at about 6:30 p.m.

Everyone on board had safely exited the plane and returned to the airport by 10 p.m., according to the airport.

The airport was working with the airline to remove the plane Thursday morning, airport spokesman Bob Kerlik said.

A bus was sent to help passengers get off the plane and shuttle them back to the airside terminal, according to the airport.

" Delta teams worked with the airport authority to safely transport customers back to the terminal," Delta Airlines said in a statement. "We apologize to our customers for the delay and inconvenience and are working to reaccommodate them as quickly as possible."

The incident is under investigation, according to Delta.

Information about the cause of the incident and damage to the plane has not been released.

The airport is operating normally Thursday morning, Kerlik said.
