Frontier Airlines will add three domestic destinations out of Ontario International Airport next spring, as well as flights to two major Latin America cities, according to an airport statement Wednesday, Dec. 18.

Frontier will offer daily nonstop flights to and from Miami, Newark and Denver beginning on April 23.

Also, there will be four flights a week to El Salvador International Airport starting May 7 and three flights to Guatemala City that will begin on June 18.

Frontier, which markets itself as a low-fare airline, has been servicing ONT since 2017. Currently, the airline has flights out of ONT to its hub city Denver as well as Orlando and Austin. The new routes will be serviced by Airbus A320 aircraft, which have 180 seats.

The airline has been operating out of Terminal 2 at ONT.

In the past three years, Ontario International Airport management has expanded service and reported significant gains in passenger counts since taking possession of the airport from the city of Los Angeles. In 2016, the airport ended the year with 4.2 million passengers and this year officials expect it to reach 5.5 million passengers by Dec. 31. Today, ONT offers nonstop commercial jet service to 22 major airports in the U.S., Mexico and Taiwan, according to an airport news release.
