Multibillion-Euro Order for Airbus as Air France-KLM to Buy 60 Jets

Paris (dpa) - The European aircraft manufacturer Airbus has received a multibillion-euro order for its A220 family of aircraft.

The Franco-Dutch airline Air France-KLM intends to buy 60 A220-300 jets from Airbus' medium-range series, the airline and Airbus said on Tuesday.

The first aircraft are due to be delivered in September 2021.

The A220-300 jet is the larger of two versions. At the same time, Air France-KLM is planning a phase-out of its A380 fleet by 2022.

Airbus announced earlier this year that it would stop production of the A380 superjumbo jet.
