Three separate investigations were launched after a private aircraft at Gisborne Airport started its jet engines in close proximity to a commercial flight with passengers on board.

The February 4 incident damaged the Air New Zealand plane and the flight had to be cancelled. The force of the engines pushed steps away from the flight from Auckland, which had passengers on board waiting to disembark in Gisborne.
