Hunger Strike to Demand Pay for Cambata Workers

The social activist had taken up the cudgels on behalf of employees of Cambata which provided ground handling services at Mumbai airport till it suddenly shut down in August 2016.

Anjali Damania on Wednesday began an indefinite hunger strike demanding release of Rs 120 crore as salaries of 2,700 workers of Cambata Aviation Private Limited.

The social activist had taken up the cudgels on behalf of employees of Cambata which provided ground handling services at Mumbai airport till it suddenly shut down in August 2016. While 2,200 workers were on the rolls of the company at the time of its closure, the dues of the remaining retired workers have also not been released.
