Biman Bangladesh Airlines has taken steps at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka to reduce the time required to deliver checked luggage to passengers.
According to a report by the Dhaka Tribune, by introducing the Red Cap system, the airline was able to decrease delivery times from one hour to 20 minutes. The Red Cap system entrusts a particular person with the task of ground handling of an aircraft from its arrival to departure, including that of the passenger luggage, the report explains.
According to the Tribune report, previously there had been a lack of coordination between personnel overseeing aircraft traffic management, luggage handlers and transport operators. The issue was the greatest factor in baggage handling delays.
