Ramp Worker Seriously Hurt When Tug Overturns

Modesty Colquitt, 21, has driven a tug for JetStream Ground Services for about two years and underwent one surgery and was expected to undergo another today.

Sept. 03--A woman who suffered serious injuries Tuesday night in an airfield incident at Pittsburgh International Airport became trapped under the tug she was driving after it overturned, Allegheny County police said Wednesday.

Police said they are continuing to investigate what caused the tug to overturn.

Modesty Colquitt, 21, of Aliquippa has driven a tug for JetStream Ground Services for about two years in addition to attending nursing school, said her grandmother Noel Wilson. Wilson did not specify the nature of Colquitt's injuries, but said she underwent one surgery at Allegheny General Hospital on the North Side overnight and was expected to undergo a second on Thursday.

It's unclear what job Colquitt was doing at the time of the incident, which happened about 9 p.m. in the area of gate D-76, police said. Allegheny County Airport Authority firefighters freed her from the tug.

Wilson expressed disappointment with JetStream.

"Nobody from the company contacted me last night, and they didn't send anyone to the hospital with her. I don't think that's right. My granddaughter worked really hard for that company and was a great employee," Wilson said.

JetStream declined to comment.
