With the final steps of the certification process complete, General Aviation Modifications Inc. (GAMI) has opened an online Supplemental Type Certificates (STC) store for the general aviation community.

One STC is needed for the airframe and another is needed for each engine.

Although the fuel is certified by the FAA for all models of gasoline-powered aircraft, GAMI, on its website says, G100UL "will be rolled out on a regional basis beginning in California, and may not be in other areas for several years. We are doing everything possible to speed the broad distribution of the fuel, including negotiating with both smaller regional blenders and international oil companies to begin blending the fuel. However big refineries move slowly and small chemical companies have limited capacity. So we cannot predict or guarantee when your airport will have its first delivery of G100UL high octane unleaded avgas."

For those buying an STC now, GAMI is offering an early adoption discount: "We are offering a 'First Fill Up Rebate' of $100 for plane owners who purchase an STC for G100UL high octane unleaded avgas on or by March 31. There are no forms to fill out. Simply complete your purchase of the STC by the date stated above, and send us a copy of your first G100UL high octane unleaded avgas purchase receipt from the FBO when the fuel becomes available in your area."

There's also a replacement engine grace period. Aircraft owners who purchase G100UL high octane unleaded avgas STCs before June 30, will receive a no-cost STC for replacement engines for their aircraft for a period of 10 years, ending June 30, 2033.

"The FAA approval of G100UL high octane unleaded avgas is a truly huge development for the future of general aviation. GAMI and all of its employees have dedicated themselves to this project for over a decade. Now is the time for all of the stakeholders in the general aviation community to stand up and celebrate. These AML-STCs are the "beginning of the end" for the continued use of lead in aviation gasoline," said GAMI President Tim Roehl in a statement on the company's website.

To process an application for a G100UL Avgas STC, GAMI requires certain aircraft and engine-specific information.
