Washington, DC, April 15, 2022 – This week, President Joe Biden voiced the Administration’s commitment to sustainable aviation fuel (SAF), building on the White House’s “SAF Grand Challenge” goal of 3 billion gallons of domestically produced SAF by the year 2030.

In remarks delivered at a biofuel processing plant in Menlo, Iowa, the President highlighted the potential of biofuels like SAF to provide a lower-carbon, domestically produced energy source that will help decarbonize the aviation sector while creating high-paying jobs.

The Business Aviation Coalition for Sustainable Aviation Fuel issued the following statement in support:   “President Biden’s remarks this week are the latest signal that this Administration is committed to working on all fronts to increase Sustainable Aviation Fuel production and adoption. SAF represents a domestic energy source that will create jobs in communities throughout the nation, strengthen American businesses, and boost an emerging industry while reducing carbon emissions. The Business Aviation Coalition for Sustainable Aviation Fuel applauds the holistic approach taken by the Biden Administration to advance SAF production from all angles: research and development, feedstock and supply chain expansion, and new and existing national policy.”

As the next step, representatives from federal agencies—including DOE, FAA, and USDA—will convene a SAF Grand Challenge Roadmap Workshop with industry stakeholders. The Business Aviation Coalition for Sustainable Aviation Fuel looks forward to continued collaboration with government partners as we educate our industry on the vital importance of SAF and support efforts to increase its availability and adoption.
