Emirates' cargo handling division has picked up a controlling interest in Airport Handling, and an option to buy another 40 percent of the company, as part of danta's European expansion.

The National out of Abu Dhabi is reporting that Emirates Group's cargo handling division has picked up a controlling interest in Airport Handling, and an option to buy another 40 percent of the company, as part of danta's European expansion.

Dnata has already acquired Belgian company Aviapartner, a cargo handler at Schiphol airport in Amsterdam for an undisclosed sum in July, as well as Gold Medal Services, a division of Thomas Cook, for 45 million GBP last year.

Dnata is expected to retain all 1,800 Airport Handling employees.
