SAO PAULO, Aug. 10, 2015 — Whisper Prop™ the new, ultra-quiet King Air propeller system from BLR Aerospace, will make its Latin American debut at the Latin American Business Aviation Conference & Exhibition 2015. Whisper Prop System experts will be available to meet throughout the event at the company’s LABACE exhibit (2004). Winglets will be on display, and BLR will make available reference copies of certified performance charts for King Air 90s and 200s with Whisper Prop and Winglets.
BLR introduced the Federal Aviation Administration-certified five-blade, carbon-fiber propeller in May, and just two months later announced its first seven orders. The process of gaining National Civil Aviation Agency (ANAC) certification is in work, according to BLR Vice President of Sales and Marketing Dave Marone.
One of the initial buyers remarked that with Whisper Prop installed, his King Air 90GTi feels “more like a turbofan than a turboprop.” “The reductions in noise and vibration levels are quite remarkable,” said Marone. “Until now, this level of quiet comfort has been unavailable to the King Air market.”
Whisper Prop was designed to integrate into BLR’s Winglet Systems, providing King Air 90 and 200 customers the opportunity to fly to an improved and certified flight manual supplement. Winglets and Whisper Prop maximize a range of performance gains while delivering significant noise reductions. The systems may also be installed independently.
Company King Air 90 GTi flight test data show that Whisper Prop provides up to a 50 percent reduction in noise, measured in dB, depending on audible frequency, when compared to the standard King Air 90GTx propeller. In conjunction with Winglets, the system also delivers runway length reductions up to 33 percent, as well as significant gains in useful load. Other benefits include access to shorter fields to reduce trip times and greater safety margins.
Unlike conventional propellers, Whisper Prop features a carbon fiber blade with natural composite core for superior noise and vibration dampening. By designing the King Air 90 propeller with a relatively small 83-inch diameter, Whisper Prop exhibits exceptionally quiet and smooth operation.
The BLR Winglet System increases wing aspect ratio to reduce induced drag. By increasing wing efficiency, Winglets provide superior speed, climb, fuel efficiency and handling qualities.
