Oct. 20, 2021
LYNNWOOD, Wash., Oct. 19, 2021 - Crane Aerospace & Electronics, a segment of Crane Co. (NYSE:CR), has been selected by Airbus to make its SmartStem Technology Tire Pressure Indication System (TPIS) selectable equipment on the Airbus A320 family. An Airbus Service Bulletin will become available for existing onboard TPIS-equipped aircraft. Crane A&E’s TPIS, the aerospace industry’s leading tire pressure management system, is already certified as standard equipment on the Airbus A330neo and available for retrofit on Airbus’ A330ceo.

“We are pleased to offer Airbus A320 operators our premier Tire Pressure Indication System,” said Hilary King, Crane A&E VP & GM – Sensing & Power Systems. “With placement on several large commercial platforms, including the Airbus A330, our TPIS solution’s value is proven throughout the aerospace industry. We’re confident A320 operators will enjoy the many benefits our tire pressure management solution provides.”

Crane A&E’s A320 TPIS solution is a direct replacement and upgrade of the aircraft’s incumbent tire pressure management system and features Crane A&E’s SmartStem wireless sensing technology.

Crane A&E’s TPIS enhances tire-related safety, extends tire life and significantly reduces maintenance cost by simplifying and streamlining tire pressure checks. Redundant sensing channels ensure accurate tire pressure readings, and rugged packaging of all components, along with wireless communication, ensures reliability.
