April 2, 2018 Wichita, KS: PWI Inc., originally founded as Precision Winding, is proud to announce the 55th Anniversary. PWI first opened its doors in April of 1963 in Wichita and has been providing quality service and products since.

The founder, Miki Lorik, a Hungarian immigrant, came to the United States with little to his name other than a few possessions and his family. In 1963, he started a coil winding business (PWI) in his home using his wife’s repurposed sowing machine. As business increased, Miki looked for a permanent location –where PWI stands today.

The company experienced a large change in 2000, with the name changing from Precision Winding to PWI, Inc. and the leadership of the company moving from Miki. He retired and passed the company on to his two children, Robi Lorik and Judy Baldwin.

In 2008, PWI moved into the LED interior cabin lighting industry. The company saw the opportunity that LED’s had to offer their customers and entered the industry. PWI began offering LED King Air Retrofit upgrades from incandescent bulbs, as well as later moving into LED Reading Lights. In 2008 PWI saw another change. The company became a Woman Owned Business with majority ownership going to Judy Baldwin as CEO and Robi Lorik becoming President.

The company has grown tremendously since its inception, spreading to impact many industries. Various industries such as contract manufacturing, electronics repair, and more, all while being on the lookout for new areas to expand into.

PWI is especially proud of this anniversary as most modern businesses seem to measure their lifespans in years, not decades. They credit their 55 years as the result of a company culture that resembles a family more than a corporation, as well as a dedication to customer satisfaction that exists within all PWI employees, from the production workers to the President and CEO. Miki’s heirs, Robi Lorik and Judy Baldwin strive to always uphold this ideal and to instill it in all members of the PWI Family.
