(Cary, N.C. – Dec. 19, 2014) – LORD Corporation presented Mark Jolly, Ph.D., Senior Manager of Mechanical and Sensing Research & Development, the 2014 Donald M. Alstadt Technology Innovation Award yesterday. The award recognizes LORD employees for innovative technological achievements, as well as exceptional leadership and critical contributions to the company’s success in collaborating with customers to solve technical challenges.
Recognized at the LORD Board of Directors dinner, Jolly was honored for his invention of Omni-Directional Active Vibration Control for the aerospace and defense industry. This technology reduces vibration and weight on helicopters, thus increasing fuel economy, flying times, and enabling additional payload for the company’s helicopter OEM customers.
“We congratulate Mark for his worthy accomplishments,” said Lane Miller, Vice President of Research & Technology at LORD. “Alstadt award recipients demonstrate dedication and leadership. Innovations like this one deliver exceptional value for our customers and strengthen our position in the global marketplace.”
Honoring the legacy of former LORD Chairman Emeritus Donald M. Alstadt, the award was established in 2006 to recognize technology-based innovation that results in value for all LORD stakeholders – customers, employees, suppliers, and shareholders. In addition to technological advancement, award criterion is based on business impact, such as sales dollars, profit margin and cost savings. Jolly’s contributions exemplify the innovative spirit and culture valued by LORD.
